Bubble correlation in first-order phase transitions

چکیده
Making use of both the stochastic approach to tunneling phenomenon and threshold statistics, we offer a simple argument show that critical bubbles may be correlated in first-order phase transitions biased compared underlying scalar field spatial distribution. This happens though only if typical energy scale transition is sufficiently high. We briefly discuss possible implications this result, e.g., formation primordial black holes through bubble collisions.

Fluctuations and Bubble Dynamics in First-Order Phase Transitions
We numerically examine the effect of thermal fluctuations on a first-order phase transition in 2+1 dimensions. By focusing on the expansion of a single bubble we are able to calculate changes in the bubble wall’s velocity as well as changes in its structure relative to the standard case where the bubble expands into a homogeneous background. Not only does the wall move faster, but the transitio...
متن کاملBubble-Nucleation Rates for Radiatively Induced First-Order Phase Transitions
We present a consistent calculation of bubble-nucleation rates in theories of two scalar fields. Our approach is based on the notion of a coarse-grained free energy that incorporates the effects of fluctuations with momenta above a given scale k. We establish the reliability of the method for a variety of two-scalar models and confirm the conclusions of previous studies in one-field theories: L...
متن کاملQuantum first order phase transitions
The scaling theory of critical phenomena has been successfully extended for classical first order transitions even though the correlation length does not diverge in these transitions. In this paper we apply the scaling ideas to quantum first order transitions. The usefulness of this approach is illustrated treating the problems of a superconductor coupled to a gauge field and of a biquadratic H...
متن کاملFirst-order dynamical phase transitions.
Recently, dynamical phase transitions have been identified based on the nonanalytic behavior of the Loschmidt echo in the thermodynamic limit [Heyl et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 110, 135704 (2013)]. By introducing conditional probability amplitudes, we show how dynamical phase transitions can be further classified, both mathematically, and potentially in experiment. This leads to the definition of f...
متن کاملGravitational wave generation from bubble collisions in first-order phase transitions: an analytic approach
Gravitational wave production from bubble collisions was calculated in the early nineties using numerical simulations. In this paper, we present an alternative analytic estimate, relying on a different treatment of stochasticity. In our approach, we provide a model for the bubble velocity power spectrum, suitable for both detonations and deflagrations. From this, we derive the anisotropic stres...
